Generations of Petretta winemakers in Avellino, famous for widely-sought-after superior vintages, mastered their craft using pure, ancient, traditional methods. From father to child, winemaking was practiced with respect and reverence. The living vitality of wine, it’s cycles and stages, daily tended and nurtured.
Giovanni Petretta, whose legacy of winemaking shattered when an earthquake destroyed six generations of hard-earned land and vintages, pulls from his unshakable belief, faith, and passion to “complete the circle” here in New York’s Hudson Valley. Together with wife Kathleen, he asserts his winemaking blood-rite while welcoming participation in the experience.

PROUD CUSTOMERS:
Giovanni is as passionate a winemaker as any I have encountered in Italy or California wine country. He blends knowledge distilled from generations of family history with a keen sense of artistry.
I love things that are hand-crafted, things that are passed down over generations, and things that please the senses. Giovanni puts all this into a bottle.
Its pure unadulterated wine made from grapes and water, no need or room for additional ingredients. His wine is a crafted masterpiece. Your tongue will tell you.

Giovanniʼs wine is extraordinary, and it pairs so well with his equally wonderful Italian food. I love the old-school family culture I am welcomed into when I arrive. I was so impressed with the quality of my wine as well as how essentially enjoyable it was to make. I canʼt wait until the next harvest!
In the silence of my native village, Santo Stefano, I hear my grandfatherʼs gentle voice telling me, as a child, how that glass of red wine was indeed a glass of blood, holy and to be revered. I have found within Giovanniʼs wine these odors of distant memories, the same pride, passion, and ancient knowledge.
Giovanniʼs wine reminds me of the way Italian reds tasted during my tour of Italy many years ago. The finish of the wine is crisp and dry with an airiness to it that made it seem light, unlike most reds I have encountered since.
Giovanniʼs wine is sweet, smooth, and satisfying. His wine can be enjoyed with any meal or after a busy day at work. Iʼve had the pleasure of sharing his wine with several friends and each of them was impressed by its exquisite quality. I couldnʼt keep up with the refills.
The best reason Iʼve always enjoyed Giovanniʼs wine, is simply that whenever I make wine with Giovanni, the experience is always shared by friends, which makes everything so much more enjoyable.
Giovanniʼs wine is a taste experience like no other. Made from the heart and with love of excellence, wine made with Giovanni is smooth and sweet. Enjoy the experience!
