In the silence of my native village, Santo Stefano, I hear my grandfatherʼs gentle voice telling me, as a child, how that glass of red wine was indeed a glass of blood, holy and to be revered. I have found within Giovanniʼs wine these odors of distant memories, the same pride, passion, and ancient knowledge.
Giovanniʼs wine reminds me of the way Italian reds tasted during my tour of Italy many years ago. The finish of the wine is crisp and dry with an airiness to it that made it seem light, unlike most reds I have encountered since.
